Any idea why Heather and Jill Jackson are no longer doing any gigs (or even apparently talking) together?

Hmm. Heather hasn’t done gigs with Jill since the end of the tour because she’s been busy filming the new series of Lip Service since May. Jill was already touring solo before the Heather Peace tour so she just continued to tour alone to promote her new album while Heather is busy with other things. It’s not like they’re officially a band anyway. They’re both solo artists who just happened to go on a tour together. They’re still talking (at least they’re still tweeting from the looks of it). I don’t think there’s anything to it.

Hi Heather
In your role as a Police officer in Lip service did you do any research into you character ? Did you spend any time with the CID ?

Hi there, I’m not Heather Peace. I’m just a fan like you. It might be more helpful sending her a message through her facebook page or twitter with your question since she does answer fan questions on those frequently. :)

ON THE ROAD WITH HEATHER PEACE

Having won our hearts as Sam in Lip Service, the nation’s favourite lesbian recently took her guitar on tour. DIVA was following her.

by Eden Carter Wood

"Am I nervous?" Heather Peace repeats. It’s a sunny day at the end of March, and we’re at a lovely little pub called Dr Brighton’s, a favourite of hers a few minutes’ walk from Brighton pier. Heather’s having her hair and makeup done in preparation for our cover shoot, but we’re not talking about the shoot, we’re talking about her first UK tour, a two-week, 12-date affair which kicks off in Belfast in a couple of days’ time.

She looks me in the eye. “I’m shitting it. I think once we get started it’ll be fine. To be honest, I’ve done that many gigs on my own, they’ve been more nerve-wracking. So to have the back-up will be amazing.”

The back-up includes singer-songwriter Jill Jackson, drummer Lisa Tring, dad Brian “Papa” Peace, who’ll be driving the Peacemobile, and filmmaker Patrick Stutt, who will be capturing the whole thing. I’m lucky enough to have been invited to join them at a few gigs, with the opportunity to speak to Heather along the way. With that in mind, before we head out to the pier, I run through a few quick questions.

Do you have a rider?
No. They’ve been trying to get me to have one, just to look a bit more impressive but no, just orange Smarties. I have a pint of water on stage, no ice. That’s it. That’s my rider [laughs] And maybe a pint of beer for afterwards.

Are you ever approached by fans?
I got chased. I got chased in Brighton at the L8 convention. Screaming down the road from the Regency, it’s the first time it’s happened. There were about 10 of them, it was a bit nervy. I’d just had lunch with [her girlfriend] Ellie, we came out and she got in a car and you know when you go past a big group and they go [she whispers], “It’s her, it’s her!” but they let themselves get like 20 metres past and then got to a bit of a canter and then started screaming when I went up a back alley to the Hilton.

Were they screaming your name or your character’s name?
I can’t remember. I was in a state of shock. The thing is, I had a different sort of fame before. London’s Burning had 13 million viewers so everyone knew who I was. But it was like, “Oh, it’s you off London’s Burning”, whereas now when they recognise me it’s a bit different…
